How often should my pet have a checkup?

Most pets should have a wellness exam at least once a year. Puppies, kittens, seniors, and pets with chronic conditions may need visits every 6 months. Regular checkups help us catch small issues early and keep your pet feeling their best.

What happens during a pet wellness exam?

A wellness exam includes a full nose-to-tail physical exam, weight and body condition check, discussion of diet and behavior, vaccine review, parasite prevention planning, and any recommended diagnostics based on age and lifestyle. It’s also your time to ask questions.

What vaccines does my pet need?

Vaccine needs depend on your pet’s age, lifestyle, and risk factors. Core vaccines are recommended for most pets, while others may be optional. We’ll create a personalized vaccine plan during your visit.

Are pet vaccines safe?

Yes. Vaccines are thoroughly tested and widely used in veterinary medicine. Serious reactions are rare, and the benefits of preventing life-threatening diseases far outweigh the risks. We monitor your pet closely and tailor vaccines to their individual needs.

Can indoor pets get parasites?

Yes. Fleas, heartworms, and intestinal parasites can still affect indoor pets through exposure to people, other animals, or insects that enter the home. Indoor pets are still at risk and benefit from preventive medication.

What shots do puppies and kittens need?

Puppies and kittens require a series of vaccines starting at a young age to protect them from serious diseases. These are given over several visits, followed by boosters. We’ll create a customized schedule for your new pet.

When should I bring in my new pet?

New pets should be seen as soon as possible after coming home. An early visit allows us to check overall health, start vaccines and prevention, and answer questions so you can begin on the right foot.
