Not for senior cats! They are among the most loving and lovable pets around, and they all deserve homes. If you\u2019ve wondered if now was the time to adopt a senior cat, we\u2019ve got some facts for the tipping point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Age Is Just a Number<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to a senior cat\u2019s personality, what you see is what you get. They aren\u2019t developing into whoever they\u2019re going to be. Instead, they\u2019ve already gone through the numerous stages of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mybeevet.com\/blog\/do-you-have-a-scaredy-cat-tips-for-managing-cat-anxiety\/\">growing and evolving<\/a> and they\u2019ve already arrived at their destination.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While their patterns and proclivities might be firm, that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t teach an older cat new skills. One of the best things about living with an older cat is that they know what they like (and, more importantly, when they like it), but they are still open to trying new things. This makes them both adaptable <em>and <\/em>adoptable!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No More Ya-Yas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kittens are unquestionably charming, but they can be a little crazy from time to time. Younger cats may be more likely to scratch up the furniture, and it\u2019s not unheard of for them to mark their territory inside the home. They also get the zoomies in the middle of the night, or try to escape the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior cats, on the other hand, enjoy a long night\u2019s sleep. Older cats don\u2019t commonly spray indoors. Of course, they can be highly discerning when it comes to their box\u2019s shape and size, and you might also face some resistance until you get the exact type of litter they prefer. If you\u2019re lucky, your senior cat may come to you with known preferences from their previous owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">All On the Table<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you adopt a senior cat there could be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mybeevet.com\/blog\/just-breathe-understanding-cat-asthma-and-other-feline-respiratory-problems\/\">health consequences related to their age<\/a>. However, any possible illnesses are likely already known at the time of adoption. In other words, you go into the ownership agreement with all the available information and can make the right decisions going forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s more, senior cats know when they\u2019re being rescued out of the shelter.
