The particles (allergens) can vary widely from pet to pet, but the most common causes of allergies in pets are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pollen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flea saliva<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mold<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dander<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environmental chemicals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certain foods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signs and Symptoms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You are probably familiar with the sneezing and watery eyes that accompany seasonal allergies, or the intestinal discomfort of a food related allergy. Allergies in pets tend to manifest as skin issues, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Excessive scratching or licking of a specific area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cHot spots,\u201d or areas of swollen, red, and weeping skin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paw chewing\/licking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pawing at the face, eyes, or ears<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hair loss<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Red or inflamed ears<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Head shaking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An unpleasant odor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you suspect your pet is suffering from allergies, please give us a call right away. Soaking the paws every day will also reduce inflammation and keep outdoor allergens from being tracked into the home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cleaning \u2013<\/strong> Reduce allergens in your home with regular vacuuming, sweeping, and laundering of blankets and pet bedding.
